2025년은 ai와 로봇 기술의 발전으로 사회, 경제, 문화 전반에 걸쳐 큰 변화를 맞이하고 있습니다. 특히, 문화체육관광부는 “문화한국 2035"라는 정책 비전을 제시하여 인공지능(ai) 기반의 문화, 체육, 관광 혁신을 포함한 여섯 가지 핵심 방향을 설정했습니다. 이 비전의 궁극적인 목표는 대한민국이 세계적인 문화 강국으로 도약하고 국민의 삶의 질을 향상시키는 것입니다.
한국문화기술연구소는 문화기술 연구의 주관 기관으로서, 인공지능 기반의 새로운 문화 향유 방식과 문화기술 서비스, 사업 창출을 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있습니다. 인공지능 기반 시각화 기술을 활용하여 스마트 미디어월 콘텐츠를 전시관에 실증하였고, 데이터 기반의 미디어 아트 프로젝트를 대중에게 선보였습니다. 또한, 청각장애인을 포함한 소통 약자를 위한 전시 해설 수어 변환 기술과 시각 장애인을 위한 전시 관람 로봇 기술을 개발하여 장애인들이 문화 예술을 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고 있습니다. 더불어, 문화유산의 3d 데이터를 활용한 실감 콘텐츠를 개발하여 문화적 가치와 활용도를 높이는 데 기여하고 있습니다.
현재 인공지능을 통한 신기술 융합이 가속화되고 있는 상황에서, 한국문화기술연구소는 문화기술 관련 정보를 확산하여 전문성을 강화하고 브랜드 이미지를 높이기 위해 올해 5월부터 이슈브리프를 발행하기 시작했습니다. 연구소의 역량을 강화하기 위해 전문가 포럼, 세미나, 데이터 창작 워크숍 등을 지속적으로 운영하고 있으며, 박물관과 전시관 등 유관 기관과 협력하여 연구개발 성과를 보급하고 확산하는 데 힘쓰고 있습니다.
한국문화기술연구소는 인공지능 기반의 문화체육관광 혁신을 이끌며, 콘텐츠 산업 성장을 위한 산학연 협력의 장을 마련하는 역할을 맡고 있습니다. 또한, 인공지능과 융합된 문화기술의 발전과 저변 확대를 통해 문화 및 기술 강국으로 나아가는 목표를 달성하기 위해 최선을 다할 것입니다.

광주과학기술원 한국문화기술연구소는 문화산업진흥기본법 제17조(문화기술 연구 주관기관의 지정)에 따라 과학기술, 디자인, 문화예술, 인문사회 등 다양한 학문분야들 간의 교류와 융합에 기반을 둔 문화기술 연구개발을 수행하기 위해 2013년 4월 설립되었습니다. 문화체육관광부 문화기술 연구개발과제를 비롯한 문화유산 활용 실감콘텐츠 개발, AI기반 예술융복합 창작지원, 문화기술 R&D기획 및 정책연구 등 다수의 프로젝트를 수행하고 있으며, 국가 문화산업 발전을 견인하기 위한 핵심 문화기술 연구에 주력하고 있습니다.!
